Need to take my mind off things

It's 2am and I am staying up because I'm waiting for my fiancee and father in law to come home from the hospital. My mother in law had a heart attack last week and has been in and out of the hospital since. She had been released two days ago but then had problems since and had to go back this evening. I wish I could take all the worry and the pain away for Matt's family but I know I can't. I just have to be there for them. So for now, I'm taking a breather from things and trying to remember a good time that Matt and I had together which is our first trip to Quebec. I'm including some pictures of Quebec city. Hope you enjoy and please keep us in your prayers or send us some positive vibes.

UPDATE: My mother in law is doing much better now, thank you for all the prayers and good wishes. Love ya!

I'm missing "my island"

This morning I was looking over my pictures of "my island", Grand Manan New Brunswick,Canada. Both Matt and I love this place!! The island is located approx three hours from where we live. You have to take an hour long ferry ride, which is one the best parts of the trip. Last time we went over we saw whales on the side of the ferry!!! I am including some pictures and video of our travels to Grand Manan. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I do and perhaps entice you to visit this beautiful place.

My own creations

I started painting last year on a whim and found out really quickly that I enjoy it. These paintings are hanging in my living room. I love feedback on my paintings, let me know what you think!

One of my favorite things

This painting is in my living room and every time I look at it, I smile. Once you know the background of the artist, you will love her paintings even more. Check out the artist background at http://modern-canadian-history.suite101.com/article.cfm/nova_scotia_artist_maud_lewis. I hope you enjoy looking at her paintings as much as I do.

Memories of Easter Past

My fondest memories of Easter, are of my parents hiding Easter eggs all over the house and my brother and I searching high and low for them. I remember one year my mother forgot one Easter egg in the dryer and well you can just imagine what happened there...:) I can't wait to have children of my own and do my own Easter traditions with them..maybe next year, fingers crossed!

When has thank you become a bad word??!!

Just got back from doing groceries, now I should have known better than to go get them the day before Easter but what can you do, we needed food. So as I pull in to the store parking lot, it's full!!! I gather up my courage and enter the store and lo and behold, it's insane in there. Now in past experience anytime, I have gone shopping the day before a holiday people tend to be, well to be blunt, very RUDE! I, not being any better than these people, do try to take the high road and maintain some civility. I was taught to say "Please", "Thank you", "You're Welcome", when have these terms become dirty words???!! It seems like nowadays, most people don't even bother to leave the door open when you're right behind them, they just let the door slam in your face. Nice! Anyhow, if you are out and about today, PLEASE do me a favor and remember to say your "thank you's and so on". THANK YOU!!

Today is the first day

Well, to start off, I'm trying this whole blog thing for the first time. So please, go easy on me LOL A little about me, I am currently unemployed not by choice but I had a work term that ended in February. I live in a small city called Fredericton with my fiancee Matt and my cat "kitty" aka Sasha. I moved here in September 2008. I met Matt online through a dating website. I know, I know people always groan or make a face when I tell them this but he is the best and I definitely don't regret trying online dating. So I'm not sure what else to write at this point so I'll end my "rant" for today. See you tomorrow.
